I would like to start a business and am in need of some ideas for writing my business plan, then I will be looking for investors? I seen a business in Chesterfield, MO and it was called Petropolis. It was a “hotel” for small animals, cats and dogs mostly. I would like to open something similar to this. Also, what are some good ways of finding out if this would go over well in the area I am looking into? Can you send out a survey to the area asking specific questions? I would like to be able to create this corporation with very arm’s length links (I don’t want anyone to be able to “lookup” the owners). I need to be able to open a bank account, receive cheques, etc…

I want it to be completly legal, my worry is that if a client finds out, both businesses are shot. So lots riding on it. Any suggestions?

I’m thinking about turning my online selling into a business, and I’m trying to get a feel for the tax-related pros and cons of making it official.

Here are 2 questions:
(1) I understand that I can write off business expenses on my tax returns. That includes computer equipment, trips overseas to purchase merchandise, etc. But I’ve never itemized my tax return before. Would I get more money back if I start a business, and then itemize my deductions rather than just taking the default deduction like I always do?

(2) If I make my online selling into an official business, will I have to pay extra business-related taxes?
