Is it common for people to sell their business ideas?

I have been working on/dreaming/planning a business idea for over a year now. Reality has set in and I know because of my credit that I’ll never be able to get the money to start it. I don’t have the time nor the patience to wait until I can clean up my credit. I need money to give my kids a better life now – like yesterday. I hate to see my work and creativity go to waste. So do people ever buy business ideas and/or all the work that has been put in to it? If so, where would I find a means of advertising it for free? Thank you.
