If you want something that always goes up and up, then you could lessen the starting price. Like the $50000 you said about, maybe put it to less. Don’t open a shop front, go house to house type. For example, when people call you to book, then you go over to their house. That has lesser risk.

Chose a name for the business. Apply to the Federal government on an SS4 form which your bank will supply if needed to get a tax id number. (Kinda like a business social security number). You will start out as a “sole proprietor” in business. Go to your bank and open a combination business and personal checking (its the wisest way) and combine your business and personal stuff to disperse as you wish. yOU ARE NOT READY FOR AND LLC OR CORPORATION. Trust me. Get proper business general liability insurance for the business and workers comp insurance per your state laws. Workers comp is a killer in many states. Many people hire mexicans, but not me.

    Hi.
With our economy it’s very hard to predict the market.
For store front the rents are very high and profits may not cover your expenses. Try something with a very little investment and then see how it goes. Try this web-site idea.

SBA helps with everything from business plan, proposals to grant and loans for the funding of your business. Just type in SBA in a search that should get you started.

The first thing you need to do is to be absolutely sure of what you want to do. Then you need to do research, take the nail salon, how many are there in your area, how are the competitive pricing, do you really believe it to be a long term business? Go to a bank/credit union and inquire about a small business loan. You need to get a business license, go see an accountant for advice about taxes etc. If you work out of your home then there will be requirements to be met, each State is different.
Good luck with what your choice, it can be exciting and nerve racking too.

There are several things you want to consider, especially in this time of overall economic crisis: 1. Who is your ideal client? 2. What is your ideal product or service? 3. Who is your competition? 4. What are your startup costs? 5. What sort of timeframe do you need to consider in terms of making a profit (how many months before you begin to see profitability)? Before you take these things into consideration, think in terms of your personal profile: What kind of temperament do you have? Are you patient? Can you explain things clearly to customers or to staff or co-workers? Do you work better independently or with a team? Among the best startup businesses with low overhead are direct selling. Consider Mary Kay Cosmetics, Herbal Life, or Advocare. Each of these businesses have made people millionaires in less than five years. (I happen to know several of these people personally.) If you are thinking of a place like a nail salon, you are going to be dependent on advertising, have the overhead of rent, heat, lighting, insurance and need a reliable staff. Not to mention the filing of licenses and state regulations. Direct selling often does not have these requirements and with an initial investment of less than $1,000 you can find yourself in a good place in a few short months if you believe in the product and take the process seriously. Again, consider your location–big city? small town? The three direct selling companies I mention each have ongoing support and technical training to help you become successful in your field. There is always room for fresh entrepreneurs and you can build your own team and downline. Good luck in your choices.
