I have several good business ideas that I will need investors for how do I protect my idea from theft?

RICKSHAW asked:

I have many good business concepts and ideas that I will need to have financially backed…I don’t want to put my ideas out there trying to get financial backing and have the possible investor just take my idea and run with it themselves..how do I protect myself from this happening..any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Take care!

One Response to “I have several good business ideas that I will need investors for how do I protect my idea from theft?”

  1. Kir Says:

    1) Pick your investors carefully
    2) Patents; filing patents on manuafturing or business processes is generally effective albiet expensive.
    3) Non-disclosure/non-compete agreement; have the potential investor sign an agreement stating that they will not steal your intelectual property. I’m not an attorney, but it would look something like:

“The Discloser above wishes to disclose confidential information to the Recipient that is proprietary…The Recipient hereby agrees not to directly or indirectly compete with the proposed business of the Discloser…The Recipient recognize and acknowledge that the Information may have competitive value”
