What does a small business need to do to ship paper products to international destinations? Are there fees?

r b asked:

I am starting a small business and want to know what steps I need to do to ship to international destinations like Japan, Korea, or Mexico. My product is simple, similar to business cards, but I am trying to learn what steps I need to take to legally offer my goods in those countries. Do I simply fill out a customs form at the Post Office and I’m all set? Or are there “export agreements” or more complicated decisions I have to make? Legally, if I send my product to a client in Japan, for example, am I subject then to Japanese laws and possibly liable _in_ Japan for breaches of some license that I may be totally unaware of? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Again, this is not a product like tobacco or alcohol, but simple pre-printed cards (very similar to business cards) that have a clients’ info on them. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Are there tax benefits if I get a business lisense for selling things on online auctions?

Jack asked:

I’m thinking about turning my online selling into a business, and I’m trying to get a feel for the tax-related pros and cons of making it official.

Here are 2 questions:
(1) I understand that I can write off business expenses on my tax returns. That includes computer equipment, trips overseas to purchase merchandise, etc. But I’ve never itemized my tax return before. Would I get more money back if I start a business, and then itemize my deductions rather than just taking the default deduction like I always do?

(2) If I make my online selling into an official business, will I have to pay extra business-related taxes?

How do I go about applying for a small business loan?

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008
MLRatyahoo asked:

-I’m 22 yrs old.

***Am I too young to be approved for a business loan?

-I am about $4000 in debt (from medical bills only) but I have small monthly payment plans that I’m keeping up with.

***If you can prove that you are paying your debts off and that they are only medical related—can you still be approved for a small business loan?

***What is the minimum amount they usually give for a small business loan? What is the usual amount?

***When applying for one, do you apply in person, or on paper? Do you have a chance to show your business plans to the bank? Because I want them to know how profitable it will be, and how quickly I’d be able to pay the loan back.

Basically what I’m asking in all of this is:
Is applying for a small business loan very black and white, or does it all depend on if they trust that your business, specifically, will be successful enough to pay back the loan?

***********Also: Any tips?

What would you think about a business plan that shows people how to reduce their tax burden?

Zero1 asked:

This business plan, and the business that ensues from this, shows people how to progressively and perpetually reduce their tax burden across the board. This goes far beyond merely income taxes. We’re talking about all forms of taxation at all levels of government.

In effect, this business legally allows people to increase their take home earnings by over 44% on average giving themselves a huge payraise.

If you had the opportunity to invest in this business and reap the dividends (far beyond your expectations) what would you do?
If you’re serious: I can show you details about this business plan.
Just because others have failed to produce what I have in my posession means hardly anything. People are always inventing new products and ideas. This is very detailed and only for serious individuals.
Again, this business plan applies to ALL FORMS OF TAXATION not just the income tax. And there is nothing the IRS can do about it legally. This is anything but tax evasion. It’s legal.

I’m currently attending college and taking science classes, because I was thinking about majoring in Biology. But, now I’m thinking about seeking a degree in business instead. It’s just that I really don’t know the difference between a degree in business administration, business management, and etc. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you invest money into your business and the business loses money, how do the taxes work?

I want to start a business and I know most lose money in the beginning so I was wondering how the taxes work between filing business tax returns and personal tax returns. I wasn’t planning on doing a DBA so there would be two returns but do I claim business loss of revenue AND personal loss of investment?

Would you buy from a business that would hand-make creative, personalized wedding items for a low price?

During my wedding planning, I have had a hard time finding exactly what I have been looking for, whether the items were too highly priced or just not the style or look that I had envisioned.

Very frustrating…

SO, I decided to make some of the items for our wedding and it is all turning out great!

I am thinking about starting my own business making wedding items for a low price. This business would offer hand-made, creative, personalized items for your wedding, such as guest books, pen holders, ring pillows, flower girl baskets, and other items that are personalized expecially for your wedding with your wedding colors and style in mind.

You would be able to see samples of all of the different items and choose from a wide variety of colors, styles, and looks.

I am just curious to see if there would be enough interest in this type of business before I get started. I will be posting on several websites.

Thanks in advance for your opinion!
Happy Wedding Planning!

How can I come up with some great ideas for starting a business?

Anonymous asked:

A small business to begin with of course…

I find that one of the most challenging things to starting a business is coming up with an idea with the kind of business you want to have. This is not easy for me.

What are some things/ideas/places you could recommend to me for starting a business? One of my friends tells me to identify a local need within your community and do some research on it and go from there? What are your thoughts about starting an online business? Can I have a business that has 0% investment or do I have to initially put some money in?

Ideas/thoughts/insight on how I can come up with ideas for a small business would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone in advance for your shared knowledge.
